EVERY CHILD MATTERS EVERY CHILD BELONGS
Frequently asked

Questions, answered
as honestly as we can.

Where the answer is “not yet”, we have said so rather than dressed it up.

What is The 517 Community Foundation?

The 517 Community Foundation is an organisation being formed around a vision for orphan care: a safe childhood, trusted relationships, and a place to belong. Our mission sets out what we believe, and our project describes the three initiatives we propose to build.

Is the Foundation operating yet?

No. Nothing described on this site is running today. The initiatives are proposed concepts, and no children are in the Foundation’s care. This website exists to set out the vision clearly and honestly while the organisation is formed.

Is the Foundation a registered charity?

The Foundation is registered and operates under EIN 87-3550117, with its registered address at 2419 Science Parkway, Okemos, MI 48864. Our 501(c)(3) determination and any state charitable-solicitation registrations will be published here as they are confirmed, so that anyone can verify them before giving.

Can I donate?

Not yet. No giving page, payment link, or collection is open, so if you are asked for money in the Foundation’s name today, it is not from us. Now that the Foundation is registered under EIN 87-3550117, giving will open here once a payment route is in place — and this page will say so.

Can I volunteer or partner with you?

Not yet, but this is the most useful thing to register interest in. Our get involved page describes how volunteering and partnership are intended to work, including the checks and training that will come first.

Where will the Foundation work?

Locations have not been confirmed and are not published on this site. Naming places before they are agreed would be misleading, so we have left it open.

Are the photographs on this site of children in your care?

No. Every image is either licensed stock photography or an image generated for this site. The people shown are not participants, staff, or volunteers. No child in the Foundation’s care appears here, and none will — our safeguarding page explains why.

How will you protect children’s privacy?

By not publishing anything that identifies them: no names, faces, schools, locations, or circumstances specific enough to single a child out, including across separate posts. The full set of commitments is on our safeguarding & privacy page.

Does this website track me?

No. There are no forms, accounts, cookies, analytics, or advertising scripts. The only external request a page makes is to Google Fonts, to load two typefaces.

Who runs the Foundation?

The team is still being formed. Our who we are page lists the roles the organisation is built around and what each is accountable for. Names and biographies will be added once confirmed.

How can I stay updated?

Our stories page will carry progress updates as the work takes shape. Until contact details are confirmed, there is no mailing list.
